Abstract
Black humour is a term in literature theory that is used to refer to an art technique in the humour level - a long-standing aesthetic category. However, the term used to be popular only in the West and it was not until the end of 20th century that black humour started to become a research focus in Vietnam, largely in literature. Researching into black humour helps to make clear a relatively typical and unique aesthetic quality of a manifestation technique in literature. In this paper, basing on the clarification of the concept of black humour, we are to investigate its manifestation in foreign and Vietnamese literature, especially in the postmodern literature for the purrpose of bringing out its significance to readers.
