THE STRANGENESS OF THINKING IN THE BONG CHU BY LE DAT

Abstract

Bong chu (1994) is an important and meaningful collection of poems by Le Dat. It is also a noticeable phenomenon in Vietnamese modern poetry.  First of all, Bong chu is an evidence of the bravery of a "stubborn and optimistic" ego who has not surrendered in any circumstances for 30 years. Moreover, the return of Le Dat at this time attracted the public's attention about the poet's "torture with the words" rather than the life of “the man shouldering words". Le Dat's poems contain the strangeness which readers could admit. The strangeness is not merely in the form of words, semantics... but also in the art of thinking. In other words, the strangeness in his poems is a product of a unique poetic style of thinking:  strangeness of thinking.
