Abstract
Up to now, studies on The Tale of Kieu have mostly focused on the pain of the character Thuy Kieu. This is not wrong but is it sufficient? This article analyzes other characters’ pain to come to the following conclusion: this pain is common to all people, human fates, human conditions, especially those of talented people. In fact, talents have long encountered boundless anguish, loss, solitude and other tragedies of life. The artist belongs to such a type of talents, and Nguyen Du the artist of genius is an immortal national monument. His poems, including the ones in Chinese and The Tale of Kieu raised the pathetic voice on the pain of the human fate that touches the hearts of all people in all times. This explains why The Tale of Kieu has already become a classical work not only of Viet Nam but also of the whole world.
