Abstract
The relationship between Japan and India has been strengthened since the end of Cold War. After 20 years, Japan has become the leading nation in Offical Development Assistance (ODA) and the fourth in Foreign Direct investment (FDI) in India. Direct investment from Japan in India focused on the sectors such as industry, transportation, communications and infrastructure. Through the FDI flows, Japan was directly involved in the process of socio-economic development in India. The prospect of Japanese FDI in India is expected to be huge in the coming decades. This paper aims to investigate the process of Japanese FDI in India since the Cold War, and consequently to draw the lessons in attracting FDI in Vietnam.
