USING GEOGRAPHY MATERIALS IN TEACHING HISTORY IN HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract
History with its own characteristics plays a crucial role in the general education system. Thanks to studying history, students are provided with the basic and systematic knowledge of the history of their own country as well as the history of the world. Studying history also helps students to apprehend their love for the fatherland acutely, to be proud of the achievements of their ancestor, loyal to the idea of national independence and socialism, to better their thinking capacity and carry out educational tasks completely. To contribute to improving the quality of teaching history, besides the textbook, the use of other reference materials is required for each teacher. The geography material with its own advantages enables teachers to explain historical knowledge, recall the historical process or event systematically and develops students’ imagination and independent thinking. Therefore, using geography materials contributes to enhancing the quality of learning and teaching history in high school.
