Abstract
Characters play an important role in expressing aesthetic ideas of a writer. In The Lu’s prose, especially his horror stories, he deliberately took readers to into the thrilling macabre atmosphere through half-virtual iconic characters like "bizarre pretty girls", thereby forming a misty curtain inside his stories. At the same time, The Lu also expressed his strong desire to explicate genuine values of reality through images of detectives, investigators – the type of "modern amateurs". In this article, we mention two types of the above-mentioned characters for the purpose of analyzing and explaining special fatures in the art of constructing characters by The Lu, thus contributing to the assertion of the author’s success in the field of artistic literary prose.
