Abstract
Entertainment in education is not a new thought, but according to John Dewey’ view, based on the background of pragmatic philosophy, such a thought bears in itself a novel vitality, and he formed a new conception in elucidating the term “entertainment” in education. With the motto that education is life itself, John Dewey really created an educational revolution in the American contemporary education; up to this time, his thoughtsare still of great value in moderneducation. The radical and comprehensive innovation of education is an indispensable general trend in Vietnam at present, in which the innovation of the educational environment, constructed in such a way that makes learners feel interested when participating in the educational process is an important element that contributes to the development of the educational innovation. In this process, the selective application of John Dewey’s thoughts on entertaiment in education to the construction of the educational environment is one of the remarkable suggestions.
