Abstract
The methods of educating children were told in “Totto-chan Beside the Window” with the social context of Japan in the first years of the Second World War, but they have still remained the educational values till now. However, the educational value of the work lasts forever. Today these lessons are still applied very effectively in Japan and they are increasingly showing many positive aspects. In terms of geography and culture, Japan and Vietnam share many similarities. Both countries are in Asia with their cultures greatly influenced by the Confucian ideology. Therefore, learning the educational experience of Japan is relevant to the Vietnamese society where it is highly feasible to apply this experience. “Totto-chan Beside the Window” is one of the references that help Vietnamese educators with an overall, more lively approach to the progressive method of educating children in Japan – a country with a leading the educational system in the world.
