Abstract
In the protracted war of resistance against the French colonialists by Vietnamese people, Danang is known for not only the place where the resistance war against the French started but also the place marking the first victory of the people of Vietnam in the tough and arduous battle, lasting nearly a century. The victory was made up by a number of factors, but there is a factor of great significance that no one can deny. It is the military genius of famous general Nguyen Tri Phuong. With the decisive thought "defensive to take the fight", Danang military and civilians led by Nguyen Tri Phuong persevered in the resistance against the enemy who were dominant in terms of weapons and won initially. Although it was not a resounding victory, it had important significance in raising the fighting spirit up and arousing the national pride of Vietnamese people.
