Abstract
Binh Dinh’s Truong Tho Loan, with its oustanding representatives of the Tho Moi movement (1932 to 1945), already left many valuable works that significantly contributed to the development of Tho Moi in particular and the national poetry in general. Therefore, researching scientifically into the language aspect of this school of poetry is a great necessity, which helps to recognize values worthy of appreciation in the poems of Truong Tho Loan. This article is an attempt to examine innovations in the art of using language and collocation in order to create a highly creative lexico-semantic word class in 117 poems by Truong Tho Loan poets. This article focuses on striking word classes that shaped a more novel school of poetry relative to the contemporary Tho Moi: they were word classes denoting nature, colours and evoking death. Based on the survey results, we have come to the conclusion that the language of Truong Tho Loan showed bold innovations in terms of the lexico-semantic aspect.
