Abstract
Japanese is one of the most difficult languages in the world. To learners of the Japanese language, the problems lie not only in its pronunciation and Chinese script system (Kanji) but also in its extremely complicated grammar. Especially, there are many grammatical patterns that bear similar meanings and conditional sentences are not exceptions. These conditional sentences are among important grammatical points, because first and foremost, they play an indispensable role in communication in daily life as well as at workplaces. However, learners often get confused in the use of different types of conditionals. Therefore, in order to minimize mistakes in using conditionals, it is necessary to investigate Japanese conditional sentences as well as compare and contrast them with those of the Vietnamese language.
