Abstract
After having been shaped for more than three centuries, the Vietnamese national script was merely confined to Christian churches and still unfamiliar to the Vietnamese people’s life. Its entry into life was not "opened up" until the birth of the first Vietnamese language newspaper. It could be said that the development and improvement of the national script in Vietnam was side by side with the formation and development of our country's journalism. Therefore, the very first contributors who brought the national script to life and bettered it was none other than the journalists of the time. Truong Vinh Ky, Nguyen Van Vinh and Pham Quynh were the typical Vietnam journalists who were instrumental in the diffusion and development of the Vietnamese national script by means of their own newspapers.
