THE IMPORTANT ROLE OF THE CHAM ISLANDS BIOSPHERE RESERVE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE ECONOMY

Abstract
The Cham Marine Park, a world Biosphere Reserve has rich and diverse forest and marine ecosystems. Besides, Cham Islands also has many important historical sites as it used to be an international sea route for commercial ships in the voyage of the "silk road" on the East Sea. Since Cham Islands was recognized as the world Biosphere Reserve, it has had more advantages to develop the integrated marine economy, especially the tourist sector. However, Cham Islands still has difficulties in terms of facilities and infrastructure, particularly transportation and qualified labor force. The paper presents some main orientations and solutions to natural resource exploitation, conservation and sustainable development.
