Abstract
Tourism has become a leading economic sector of many countries and localities thanks to the benefits it brings back. However, tourism has also had negative impacts on the culture and the environment of destinations. After more than five years since its establishment, Cam Thanh commune has obtained many remarkable achievements, becoming a typical example for successful community-based tourism in Vietnam. Nevertheless, like many other localities, Cam Thanh still has certain limitations concerning tourism. This article is aimed at evaluating the impacts of tourism based on residents’ perceptions and their support for tourism development in the future. The research results indicate that tourism has brought significant benefits to the locals, and the residents are willing to participate in activities related to tourism development in the coming time.
