Abstract
To the contemporary Vietnamese writers, the mythical element which is put into the work is an innovative and groundbreaking experience. This not only influences on the content of the whole work, but also dominans the formation of the typical artistic space that characterizes full mythical color where parallelly exists the sacredness and the vulgar, the reality and the magic. Meanwhile, characters can exist and adapt in various spatial dimensions. In this article, we approach two types of mythical spaces which are presented in contemporary Vietnamese fictions: the unreal space and the spiritual space. In addition, we analyze, explain and evaluate the effects of mythical space in writing novels as well as the contribution of it to Vietnamese modern literature.
